Guidance

Beginning with the September 2011-2012 school year, Ecole Toussaint Louverture has conscientiously
implemented the requirements found in the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act by educating students, staff and parents in accordance to N.J.S.A. 18A: 37-15C. During the first two years of implementation of the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, Ecole Toussaint Louverture has made progress in addressing and improving harassment, intimidation and bullying awareness. Activities such as the “Week of Respect” and “Peace Month,” as well as Character Education Lessons, have enhanced our students’ ability to identify bullying behaviors. Parents have been informed about the law through presentations at our Back to School Nights and via information sent home periodically. While completing the NJDOE School Self -Assessment, we learned that our school has demonstrated
strengths in the areas of HIB investigative procedures, HIB Programs, and Staff Instruction. Ecole Toussaint Louverture looks to maintain our NJDOE School Self-Assessment score by strengthening our school safety team to be able to identify and prevent patterns of bullying behavior throughout our school. During the upcoming school year, our school will be working towards improving our score. As always, we depend on our parents and the East Orange community for their support and involvement.

Ecole Toussaint Louverture’s school score on the NJDOE School Self -Assessment was 76/78.
