PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Lion P.R.I.D.E.,

Welcome back to what promises to be an extraordinary school year! I hope you had a restful and rejuvenating summer.  As we embark on this new academic journey, I am excited to introduce our theme for the year: Connecting the D.O.T.S. 

D.O.T.S. stands for:

• Data-Driven: Utilizing data to inform our teaching strategies, track progress, and make informed decisions to enhance our educational practices.
• Outreach: Strengthening our connections with parents, the community, and other stakeholders to create a supportive network for our students.
• Transparency: Fostering an environment of open communication and trust, ensuring that everyone is informed and engaged in our collective mission.
• Student and Staff Success: Keeping our focus on the ultimate goal – the success and well-being of our students, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to thrive.

This theme encapsulates our commitment to working collaboratively, leveraging data and insights, reaching out to our community, maintaining clear and honest communication, and prioritizing the success of our students above all else.

Louverture’s story-reflected in our data and stakeholder surveys boasts a 4% point increase in student attendance from 88% to 92%, establishing partnerships with 4 additional community stakeholders, hosting more than 15 family engagement activities, and seeing growth on 2024 NJSLA. While there is a lot to celebrate, we must be intentional in order to sustain the momentum. Looking backwards, we must consider a need to hone in on improving student proficiency in Math and ELA, strengthening teacher practice, and cultivating positive student behavior. 

In order to fulfill our aspirations for measurable academic and social emotional growth, the entire community will focus on integrating Visible Learning Strategies, planning student-centered Interventions and creating elements aligned to Responsive Classrooms. Staff will have multiple opportunities to engage in meaningful professional learning, to collaborate as a team, and analyze pertinent data to ensure that we are collectively striving towards a common goal. 

As we connect the D.O.T.S., let’s remember that each of us play a vital role in this process. Together, we can create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed. Thank you for your dedication, passion, and hard work. I am confident that, with your continued commitment, this year will be our best one yet. We look forward to your enthusiasm in welcoming our students and meeting their families on their first day, Thursday, September 5, 2024.
